Software students working on Smart City Odense

30 software students on 7th semester has just started a project together with The Municipality of Odense with the aim to facilitate Odense as a smart city.

The name of the project is "Smart Odense Data Apps" and the task for the students is to find new and smarter ways to use the data that is collected in Odense.
An example given by Associate Professor Mikkel Baun Kjærgaard from Center for Energy Informatics at SDU is, that alot of data is collected during events in Odense. This data can be used to determine when people arrive and how long they stay so everything proceeds smoother.
The students have been presented with four areas within which they must do the task. Theese are:
- A clean city
- A living city
- Happy road users
- A bike friendly city for children
The collaboration beetween The Municipality of Odense and SDU has already paid of. Two software students Almir Mehanovic and Emil Rømer has analysed energy data together with Associate Professor Mikkel Baun Kjærgaard and Associate Professor Sanja Lazarova-Molnar and this work earned them the Danfoss price "Future Engineers"
Along with The Municipality of Odense and SDU, Kofoed & Co and GeoFyn A/S are also part of the project.
