Research at the Research Unit for Emergency Medicine Esbjerg focuses on patients requiring emergency care, from the first encounter in their own home to critically ill patients in the emergency department.
We work closely with national and international partners, and patient involvement is a guiding principle in everything we do.
Our ambition is to produce research that directly supports clinical decision-making at the bedside – whether that bedside is in the emergency department or in the patient’s home.
Our three research areas
1. Critical Care Emergency Medicine
Treatment and stabilisation of acutely and critically ill patients in the emergency department. Our research includes fluid therapy, haemodynamic monitoring and the critical decisions made during the early stages of care.
2. Community Emergency Medicine
Emergency assessment and treatment outside hospital, including in patients’ own homes and in community-based healthcare services. We focus on how acute care can be delivered closer to where people live.
3. Telemedical Emergency Medicine
Emergency medical care in situations where a doctor cannot be physically present, including at sea and in other remote or isolated environments.
