Daniel became a member of the research group of Kim Ravnskjaer in 2018 where he first conducted his undergraduate work. He has been involved in several projects on the livers transcriptional regulation placing special focus on hepatic stellate cells and their role in NASH and fibrosis development.

Daniel became a Danish Diabetes Academy-funded PhD fellow affiliated with ATLAS in September 2020, where his project entitled: “Spatiotemporal Deconstruction of Microvascular Decay in NASH” sets to investigate the cellular interactions and tissue plasticity of hepatic sinusoids. He seeks this comprehension by using mouse models and human tissue, where he applies state-of-the-art technologies, including: single-cell transcriptomics, spatial transcriptomics, and histological interrogations to gain fruitful insights into disease development and its avoidance.
