Social program

SING12

We have an exciting social program planned for the SING12 Conference.  We plan to show you the best of Danish hospitality. The preliminary social program is given below. The detailed program will be announced as soon as possible.

Monday July 11th, Reception at Møntergården
The Møntergården building is one of the finest renaissance properties in the city of Odense. It was built in 1646 by the nobleman Falk Gøye.
Møntergården is named after the narrow street Møntestræde lying next to the building, where a coin workshop was located around 1420. The building itself is a two-storey half-timbered house with carved rosettes facing Overgade and Møntestræde. The walls are brickpainted as bricks were considered superior to halftimbering. The roof is covered with handmade tiles.

Møntergården was a city residence for families of the landed nobility. In the middle of the 18th century it was converted into a grocery store. The front building was converted into two shops and flats for several families around 1860. This meant that the formerly distinguished look of the building was lost. In 1930, the city of Odense bought the property from the carpenter H.J. Steffensen in order to restore it to its original state. Møntergården has functioned as a museum since 1941. In 2013 a new building housing the exhibition "Funen centre of the universe" opened.

Tuesday July 12th, Visit to Odense ZOO including guided tour and dinner
Odense Zoo is situated in unique settings along Odense River, which is a significant and unique landscape element of the city.

For example, you can discover the elegant giraffes and antelopes in the African Kiwara and hear the lions roar when they mark their territory. Complete your journey in South America, where you can experience tropical rains among the endangered tapirs and giant manatees – and chill with the penguins.
When dining in the zoo in the evening, you will experince a Danish barbecue (whar we call a "grillfest").

Wednesday July 13th, Gala dinner at Hotel Grand
