Structural Dynamics & Monitoring at SDU
Developing novel methods for analysis, modelling, simulation and condition assessment of structural dynamic systems under real-world operational and environmental conditions
Structural Dynamics & Monitoring at SDU
Group Leader, Associate Professor, Luis David Avendaño-Valencia
Luis David leads the Structural Dynamics and Monitoring research group, focusing on advanced methods for system identification, Bayesian modelling, and digital twins applied to complex engineering systems. His work bridges theory and application, addressing challenges in non-stationary dynamics, structural health monitoring, and condition monitoring for offshore wind turbines, rotating machinery, and large-scale structures. About
We focus on: PHYSICS-AWARE DATA-DRIVEN METHODS (statistical time-series, subspace and FE modelling), which offer high modelling accuracy, varying degrees of physical interpretability and computational efficiency, particularly suitable for large monitoring datasets and COMPUTATIONALLY EFFECIENT BAYESIAN INFERENCE PROCEDURES, offering additional uncertainty quantification properties.
