Lessons learned from the storm surge in October 2023

The Poseidon project invites representatives from emergency services, public authorities and companies that offers barriers and other measures to protect against flooding to participate in a collective learning workshop. Join and share your experiences regarding challenges and potential solutions, so we are all better prepared for the next time a storm surge hit. Can we train and build our competences to act in emergency situations in case of flooding? Yes, we can!

It is very important that every fire brigade unit undergo training in response to flooding, but did you know that groups of citizens can also take such training? What would you like to learn about?

We know it is crucial to learn from previous flooding events. That is something we don't do enough, so therefore the POSEIDON project is inviting everyone interested to participate in our storm surge learning workshop June 18th at Roskilde Brandvæsen, Gammel Vindingevej 10, DK-4000 Roskilde (and we will speak both Danish and German).

We will gather people to discuss what went well and what could have been better during the last big storm surge in October 2023. Today, a little more than half a year ago since the storm surge hit... we still see the damages along our coastlines.

Let's collect that valuable experience and build upon our collective knowledge, using it to identify needs for new solutions that could be developed and tested in the coming year. The workshop is taking place at a brand new test-facility; the Water Management Center at Roskilde Brandvæsen, which can do flooding simulation and offers the perfect training ground for flooding situations and possible solutions. Their opening ceremony starts right after our workshop ends.

The event is taking place soon and more than 30 people have already registered for the workshop! We still have room for you - and please share this invitation with anyone you know working with flooding response plans, emergency services etc.
