Entry requirements
To apply for the Master's programme in Digital Communication and AI, you need a relevant Bachelor's degree.
No Bachelor’s degrees give a legal claim for admission to the Master’s degree program in Digital Communication and AI.
The following Bachelor’s degrees fulfill the academic requirements for admission to the Master’s degree program in Digital Communication and AI:
- Statskundskab from Syddansk Universitet (SDU)
- Samfundsfag from SDU
- Sociologi og kulturanalyse from SDU
- Psykologi from SDU
- Medievidenskab from SDU
- Biblioteksvidenskab, IT og Kommunikation from SDU
- Cognitive Science from Aarhus University
- Kommunikation og IT from Copenhagen University
- Kommunikation og Digitale Medier from Aalborg University
Following individual academic assessment, applicants with a relevant Bachelor´s or Professional Bachelor’s degree other than those listed can apply.
Other degrees must include subjects amounting to 75 ECTS within the Social Sciences or Communication.
The 75 ECTS must include a minimum of:
- 5 ECTS of statistical and quantitative methods courses with a focus on data analyses.
- 5 ECTS of a course on Research Methodology and Theory of Science (such as an introduction to social scientific methods or research design)
In addition to the above-mentioned ECTS requirements, we require:
- A Bachelor’s thesis (Minimum 10 ECTS). A Thesis is defined as an independent scientific work written at the end of the study program.
- English language skills: B2 or higher (see homepage for details)
As a Bachelor student at SDU, you can apply for permission to follow up to 30 ECTS Master-level courses even though you have yet to complete your Bachelor’s degree.
You can be granted permission if you have the necessary academic qualifications. The progression of your Bachelor’s programme is crucial to the outcome of your application.

Have you completed a Master’s programme?
If you’ve already obtained a Master’s degree, you can only be admitted to a new Master’s programme if there are vacant study places in the programme.

Have you completed another type of study programme?
As long as you do not hold a Master’s degree, you are free to apply for admission to a new programme.
