Supplementary courses

If you hold a relevant degree with a minimum of 75 ECTS worth of courses within economics and business administration, but you lack one or more of the required course areas, you may be able to follow supplementary courses.

You can do up to three supplementary courses

It is required that at least four out of the seven specific entry requirements (aside from Theory of Science) are fulfilled by courses in your bachelor's degree.

You can only follow one course after study start

If you lack more than one-course area, you have to pass the remaining supplementary courses before the study start. Please note that you cannot follow supplementary courses within microeconomics or corporate finance after study start. So if you lack one or both of these, you have to pass relevant courses before study start.

You can follow supplementary courses while doing your bachelor's

As long as you are still studying for your bachelor's or professional bachelor's degree, you can follow supplementary courses. However, you have to pass the courses before you finish your bachelor's for the courses to be taken into consideration.

You can finish supplementary courses immediately before study start

You can also be admitted to the programme under the condition that you finish one or more supplementary courses immediately before study start. This can happen if:

  • SDU offers a relevant summer school course - in that case, we will sign you up for the course - or
  • you are signed up to a regular semester course, at SDU or another university, that you can complete before study start - remember to attach documentation for your registration in your Master's registration.

Discuss your plans with us

We recommend that you talk to a counsellor from Admission before planning your course. We know all the rules and can help you gain an overview of the possibilities and the challenges you might face.

If you want to follow supplementary courses while studying your Bachelor's, you can apply for enrolment to a single course.

If you want to sign up for an ordinary course before study start with a view of being conditionally admitted, you also have to apply for enrolment to a single course.

Please note that even though you complete the relevant supplementary courses, you are not guaranteed a study place in the programme. This is due to the fact that we have a limited amount of study places. So you might risk paying for single courses without entering the Master's programme.

If you wish to be admitted under the condition that you follow one of our summer school courses before study start, or a regular course after study start, you simply have to apply for the Master's. If you are offered a place in the programme under the condition that you supplement your degree, we will sign you up for the relevant course(s).

Please note that you have to pay tuition for supplementary courses. They usually belong to 'rate group 1' - the tuition rates can be found here.
