The unit currently has 7 research projects and a knowledge center partnership.

 

Research projects

 GREENition 2.0 - 2025-2027

– Conducting job demand analysis for new and retrofitted electrical and hybrid ferries during normal operations and emergencies.

EU project: Maritime just-in-time arrival optimization tool (MISSION) - 2024-2027

– Analysing how to minimise shipping waiting time in ports to increase efficiency, enhance safety, and decrease port traffic, costs, and emissions.

Maritime Culture Lab - 2024-2025

– Analysing crew dynamics and health & safety onboard tanker vessels crewed with 50% women.

Cardiovascular diseases – 2022-2025

– A register study analysing relevance and mortality in seafarers using MHTs and ISTs comprehensive databases.

Medicine chests - 2023-2026

- Analysing availability and medication utilisation in consultations with Radio Medical.

Shipping Lab II 2024-2027

- Crew comfort: Analysing transition and adaptation for workers in windturbine work.

SDU Maritime Research Platform 2023-2026

1. Analysing consequences of seasickness in the offshore industry.
2. Investigating energy consumption management in small ships in the offshore industry.
3. Undertaking risk assessments of maritime infrastructure in Energy hubs.

MAR-DEI – 2024-2026

- Collaborating with SIMAC to promote maritime diversity in a knowledge center partnership, equality and inclusion through capacity building and knowledge dissemination.

Education

MHT researchers deliver teaching and are coordinators of education modules at Master level: 

  • MSc in Risk and Safety Management; Module: "Health and Safety Management". This programme is offered by SDU together with Aalborg University.
  • MSc in Public Health; Module: "Project and Management. This programme is offered by SDU.

MHT researchers also engage in:

  • Ph.D. and Master project supervision.
  • Assistance in Research and Development for Maritime academies.
  • Support to Authorities. 
  • MaritimeEducation and Training offerings for companies.
