I am a historian of the modern and contemporary period, interested in European comparisons. My main research fields are gender history, tourism history, war history and commemoration cultures and welfare state research. Currently, I am working on three projects: 1) German seaside resorts by the North and Baltic sea coasts, 1871-1939, 2) battlefield and war grave tourism since World War II, 3) the impact of the two world wars on the urban, social and cultural development of German spas.
