We are looking for participants with back pain to take part in our research project.
We want to learn more about how back pain affects everyday life – both on days when the pain is present and on days when your back feels good. We are interested in involving people who use their bodies in dif-ferent ways.
Therefore, we are seeking:
1) Participants with near-elite, elite, or professional backgrounds and experiences related to physical activity (e.g., various types of sport or dance).
2) Participants who do not engage in sport or physical activity at a high level.
We aim to learn more about:
- When and to what extent your back pain appears in your everyday life – for example, in the ways you do things.
- How you experience your bodily and movement-related experiences influence how you manage pain in daily life.
- Which aspects of your life (e.g., situations, activities, or experiences) play a role in how you may use your bodily experience when you experience pain.
The results of the project will be used to improve treatment, training, and support for both dancers, athletes, and people living with back pain more generally. We hope you would like to take part – your experiences are an important resource for our research.
If you choose to participate, this means that:
- You will take part in an interview of approximately 1½–2 hours with Emily (PhD student), where you will talk about your experiences with back pain and bodily movement.
Before conducting the interviews, we are also looking for participants who are willing to be followed in their everyday life by Emily at selected times – in total around five days spread over about two weeks. To-gether, we will plan which days suit you best. Emily will observe and talk with you in contexts such as training, work, or leisure, to gain insight into how you move and manage your pain in daily life.
This part of the project will help us prepare the interviews and gain an even better understanding of what it means to live with back pain. We are therefore very interested in hearing whether you might also want to take part in this part of the project.
Please note that:
- Participation is voluntary, and you can withdraw your consent to participate at any time.
- Everything you share or that we observe will be treated confidentially and anonymously in accord-ance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
