Summary of CLF Report 4/2010

This report analyzes the development of unemployment, employment and the labour force in peripheral municipalities in Denmark covering 2000-2009 and  parts of 2010. The report first presents the most recent development in unemployment. Those areas with higher initial unemployment have had the smallest increases. Secondly, the labour force is decomposed into different skill groups, age and gender. The labour force is shown to have a lower share of highly educated workers, tends to be older and has a slightly higher share of males compared to the whole of Denmark. The paper finally provides a brief description of the unemployment and employment experience of the peripheral areas for a period of about 20 years.
