INDUSTRY & RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS

Collaborate with CIM

The Centre for Industrial Mechanics (CIM) works closely with industry, public institutions, and research organizations to turn engineering challenges into practical solutions. Through applied research, advanced testing, and innovation, we connect academic expertise with real-world needs.

How we can work together

CIM offers expert consultancy across a broad range of engineering disciplines, including Applied Mechanics, Mechatronics, and Energy Systems.

Our researchers work with partners to address specific technical challenges through system analysis, modelling and simulation, design optimization, experimental validation, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical and mechatronic systems.

We collaborate with companies on projects ranging from short-term technical assignments to long-term strategic partnerships.

Collaboration can include feasibility studies, prototype development, performance testing, digitalization solutions, and research and development activities. We also offer opportunities for companies to engage with our students and researchers through industry-oriented student projects and joint supervision of PhD projects.

CIM participates in national and international research projects together with industry, universities, and other research partners.

We support the development and implementation of joint research proposals and collaborative R&D and demonstration projects. Funding opportunities may include EU Framework Programmes, Innovation Fund Denmark, the Villum Foundation, and other national and international funding schemes.

Industry and research partners can access CIM’s advanced laboratory infrastructure for testing, prototyping, experimentation, and validation.

Our facilities include:

  • Fatigue and Fracture Lab
  • Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) Lab
  • Power-to-X Lab
  • Drone and Autonomous Systems Lab
  • Heating and Cooling Systems Lab

These facilities support experimental research across multiple scales, from material characterization and component testing to prototype and full-system validation.

CIM helps transform research and new technologies into solutions that create value for industry and society.

We collaborate with partners on technology development, proof-of-concept demonstrations, validation, and pathways toward implementation and commercialization. Our goal is to accelerate the transition from research to practical applications and contribute to more sustainable, efficient, and competitive engineering solutions.
