Project Description
REV‑UP contributes to the European Commission’s goal of ensuring that all new buildings are zero‑emission buildings (ZEBs) by 2030 and, critically, that existing buildings reach ZEB status by 2050. It does so by driving key advances across different building types and by developing integrated ZEB solution packages that combine technologies for energy generation, storage, heating and cooling, ICT infrastructure, business models, and financial mechanisms, ultimately enabling buildings to act as active participants in the evolving energy landscape. Fully aligned with the New European Bauhaus (NEB) principles, REV‑UP addresses the call scope by defining ZEB concepts and their holistic integration within EU regulatory frameworks; developing integrated and modular energy‑harvesting solutions tailored to various European building types; optimizing the interplay of local generation, storage, and energy consumption through novel ICT; defining and validating ZEB solution packages for all EU climate zones; empowering users to choose the ideal ZEB solution while becoming prosumers and flexumers; and paving the way for future market roll‑out and broad dissemination. The project’s technological objectives include further development of advanced façade elements, such as CEPA multifunctional prefabricated components and dynamic U‑value façade systems, alongside solar‑powered glazed surfaces, integrated autonomous ventilation units, innovative ICT‑enabled services, and optimized control strategies, all holistically integrated with existing market‑ready technologies. To support user empowerment, REV‑UP will also develop a decision‑making app that leverages consolidated research results to enhance decision‑making in both selecting and operating the most suitable ZEB concept.
