CEBE – Civil Engineering and the Green Transition in the Built Environment

Project Description

The SDU Center for Energy Informatics participates in the national Villum-funded research programme CEBE – Civil Engineering and the Green Transition in the Built Environment, a ten-year initiative that brings together leading Danish universities to develop solutions for a more sustainable and resource-efficient building sector.

Within CEBE, the center contributes to two main research areas: Digitalisation and Automation and Sufficiency, Well-being, and Energy Efficiency. The center’s role is to advance the digital transformation of the building sector by developing digital infrastructure that integrates Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data analytics, Digital Twins, and Artificial Intelligence.

These technologies enable continuous data exchange and intelligent insights across all phases of the building lifecycle—from design and construction to operation and renovation. This supports predictive operation, adaptive control, and data-informed decision-making that enhance energy performance, occupant comfort, and sustainability.

Through its participation, the SDU Center for Energy Informatics helps strengthen Denmark’s research capacity in digitalised and energy-efficient building systems and contributes to establishing digitalisation as a key driver of the green transition in the built environment.
