Clinical hepatologist researcher within alcoholic- and non-alcoholic liver disease. Focuses on liver fibrosis, early disease detection, diagnostic and prognostic markers, multivariable modelling, non-invasive techniques and elastography. Clinical skills include liver biopsy, ultrasonography of the liver and 2-dimensional shear wave elastography. She has published 27 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Journal of Hepatology. H-index 14, with more than 650 citations. Supervises four PhD students and two pregraduate researchers. In addition to her scientific work, Maja Thiele often engages in communicating science to the public, for example via participation in the 2017 PhD Cup transmitted in Danish national television (DR2) and via an ongoing collaboration with the official Danish science site Videnskab.dk.
