The overall aim is to introduce to qualitative data and to support and stimulate development in research through theoretical academic discussion, reflections and hands-on analysis of empirical data. Thus, at this PhD course the participants will have an indebt introduction to Paul Ricoeurs philosophy and his theory about narrative and interpretation.
The French philosopher Paul Ricoeur´s thoughts have inspired qualitative researchers globally to conduct various forms of analysis and interpretation that increase significant knowledge of ways of being-in-the-world. The aim is to give the students in debt knowledge about how to argue critically and reflect on how Ricoeurs philosophy forms the framework of a phenomenologic-hermeneutical approach and how it provides a structured analysis and interpretation process of qualitative data. Thus, the students will be given knowledge and tools to perform a specific analysis of qualitative data based on a phenomenologic-hermeneutic approach
Aim
The students will gain, in debth, knowledge in how to conduct qualitative analysis through Ricoeurs phenomenologic-hermeneutic approach. They will build up and further develop their skills related to qualitative analysis and interpretation of data from their ongoing projects. Furthermore, they will get skills and develop their competences related to presentation of their study results. The course welcome students who are interested in or who are working with any kind of qualitative empirical data or qualitative data in combination; interviews, focus group interview, participant observation, dairy, drawings.
Course and teaching arrangement
In a team of expert teachers, we will provide a number of lectures; however, lectures given by the students will be a high priority in order to engage them e.g. short presentation (pitch) of a topic/challenge/empirical data and brief summarising meetings in two and two discussion. The third day will take form as a workshop where participants present a 5-page analysis description of data and receive peer-and teacher feedback

Course Fee
The course is free of charge for PhD students enrolled in Universities that have joined the "Open market agreement".
For other participants there is a course fee of DKK 7916,-
