News updates and rapid options
It is now three years since Russia attacked Ukraine. Three years ago, on February 24,  2022, Russian military moved across the neighboring country's borders and the 'full-scale war' began.
What considerations do you make as a press photographer when you have to photograph war? And as a photo editor, when you have to make quick choices in the huge news flow of photographs? How does photography create an understanding of the war in Ukraine? How do you get visual attention for a war that has lasted over three years in a media landscape where everyone is fighting for attention?

War threatening condition
Increasingly since February 2022, we in Denmark have begun to see ourselves as a country 'in the shadow of war': Everyone now knows the word 'prepping', the prime minister's New Year's speech was full of serious words, and the word 'war tax' has entered the political agenda. If the prime minister calls for increased awareness that we live in a new war-threatening state, how can photography show and convey this 'new' state?
In this panel discussion on "Danish press photography and the war in Ukraine", Information's photo editor, photojournalist Sigrid Nygaard, who by virtue of her job looks at photographs of war every day, and Politiken's photojournalist Martin Lehmann, who was in eastern Ukraine on February 24, 2022 when the war broke out and has traveled and photographed eight times in Ukraine in the past three years, will participate in this panel discussion. Professor of photography studies from the University of Copenhagen and Nordic Humanities Center Mette Sandbye will moderate the conversation.

The event takes place at the Royal Library - Karen Blixen Hall, Diamanten, 1st floor
