Terms and conditions for Master’s degree programmes for working professionals

A Master’s degree programme for working professionals is a Master’s level programme organised as a four-year part-time programme for working professionals. The selection of programmes offered is based on an estimate of the demands of the labour market.

The objective for this type of programme is to provide students and companies with a possibility to connect academic competencies directly with relevant working tasks. A requirement of 25 hours employment alongside the programme allows the student to be an integrated part of the company on equal terms with other employees.

Terms and conditions

Students enrolled in Master’s degree programmes for working professionals are not entitled to receive the Danish state education grant.

No Bachelor’s degrees give a legal claim for admission to any Master’s degree programmes for working professionals. This means, e.g., that a Bachelor’s degree in Computer science from SDU does not give you a legal claim for admission to the Master’s degree programme for working professionals in Computer science. A legal claim for admission only applies to full-time Master’s degree programmes.

Twice a year, SDU will procure documentation for your occupation. In addition to this, you are obliged to let SDU know if there are any changes in your occupation.

If you switch employers, if your occupational tasks change significantly, or if you change from an entrepreneurship to another occupation, you must apply for permission to continue in the Master’s degree programme for working professionals. You must direct this application to Educational Law & Registration via SPOC.

If SDU deems that you no longer fulfil the occupational requirements for the programme, you will be transferred to the corresponding full-time programme, if possible, from the following semester.

As a student in a Master’s degree programme for working professionals, you have the possibility to apply for a transfer to the corresponding full-time programme.

If you wish to transfer, please contact Educational Law & Registration via SPOC. A transfer is only possible after commencement of studies, and with effect from the second semester at the earliest.

It is possible to apply for a transfer from a full-time Master’s degree programme to the corresponding Master’s degree programme for working professionals without withdrawing from the full-time programme first.

Depending on whether you have passed the first year of studies or not, you must either apply for ordinary admission (re-admission) or a transfer. You can read more about how to apply in both cases here.
