The Photonics Laboratory provides a broad range of optical, spectroscopic and imaging techniques for material analysis. We combine methods to deliver the best characterisation of your material or product, including:

Confocal Raman spectroscopy and Raman imaging for chemical identification and spatial mapping of materials, particles, coatings and contaminants.
FTIR spectroscopy for identification of molecular composition, polymers, organic materials and chemical changes.
UV-VIS spectroscopy for optical absorption, transmission and reflection measurements.
Hyperspectral imaging for non-contact spectral imaging and mapping across visible and near-infrared wavelength ranges.
Micro-XRF spectroscopy and elemental mapping for non-destructive determination and spatial mapping of elemental composition.
Advanced digital microscopy and 3D surface imaging for visual inspection, documentation, dimensional measurements and surface characterisation.
Additional optical spectrometers and laboratory spectroscopy setups for application-specific measurements.
