The final signature has been made. Nine international researchers have received one of the EU's prestigious MSCA postdoc fellowships, which gives them the opportunity to pursue research activities at the University of Southern Denmark.

With a fellowship, the researchers each have the opportunity to advance their research ideas, develop their research leadership, and strengthen their international collaboration.

At the same time, SDU's research environments benefit from enhanced research collaboration and innovation across borders.

SDU's MSCA postdoc fellows

  • Tim Budden, DRIVEN, Department of Sports Sciences and Clinical Biomechanics.
The project explores the dynamic relationships between goal flexibility and the development of depression and anxiety symptoms in emerging adults. The aim of the post-doc is to review the available literature and to develop computational models of goal flexibility and ill-being.

Eduardo Dias, POLIMA, Mads Clausen Institute.
The project nanoHEAT explores strategies to harness electromagnetic radiation (e.g., light) and manipulate the flow of heat on nanometer length scales, enabling next-generation energy-efficient electronic and photonic technologies.

Enara Garcia, Research unit of Movement, Culture and Society, Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics.
The project investigates the role that affective atmospheres play in psychotherapeutic interactions.

Mohammad Hemmati, Centre for Industrial Electronics, Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
The project focuses on the grid services and improving the voltage drop in distribution grids through machine learning solutions.

Farshid Jafarian, Centre for Industrial Mechanics, Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
The project investigates the effects of additive manufacturing primary process parameters and different machining techniques on the surface integrity of Inconel 718 alloy using experimental measurements and numerical simulation.

Julius Koschnick, HEDG, Department of Economics.
The project investigates how disruptive events, such as wars, plagues, and famines, influenced the emergence and evolution of ideas related to modern science and liberal democracy among university students in seventeenth-century England, Denmark, and Sweden.

Vitantonio Mariella, HEDG, Department of Economics.
The project evaluates the long-term impact of agricultural productivity and industrial policies on economic growth and structural transformation in Southern Italy after World War II, using advanced econometric techniques.

Florian Moeller, Nordcee group, Department of Biology.
The project explores the processes regulating oxygen utilization within marine sponges. Sponges are among the earliest of all animals and emerged in a time when oxygen levels were low and possibly quite challenging to sponge physiology and evolution.

Frederik Forrai Ørskov, Department of Culture and Language.
The project WatTS analyzes how totalitarian cultural diplomacy and soft power was exercised, received, and negotiated by writers in the Scandinavian democracies during the political polarization that marked “the European schism” of the interwar, Second World War, and early Cold War years.

More about the fellowships

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships are part of  EU's research and innovation programme Horizon Europe.

With a postdoc fellowship, the EU supports researchers with a Ph.D. who wish to conduct their research activities abroad. It is designed to promote researchers' careers and enhance research quality through mobility and interdisciplinary collaboration.

There are two types of fellowships: European postdoc fellowships, which are open to researchers moving within Europe or coming to Europe from other parts of the world, and global postdoc fellowships, which fund researchers' stays in a country outside Europe.

To apply for a postdoc fellowship, researchers must have a Ph.D. and collaborate with a host organization in an EU member state.
