About Values and Welfare

Values and Wellbeing is an interdisciplinary, philosophically grounded research program aimed at exploring philosophical and ethical questions related to values and wellbeing. The research program is rooted in philosophical expertise but has a practical outlook, and therefore also reaches out to various other research disciplines and fields.

The research in Values and Wellbeing is practice-oriented but philosophically grounded. We work with philosophical and ethical questions that arise in connection with societal issues and within institutions where values and wellbeing are central. Values and wellbeing are understood broadly, and the research program’s work includes, among other things:

  • Philosophy of health and ethics
  • Theories of wellbeing and their applications
  • Philosophy of science and communication
  • Political and economic philosophy
  • Democratic ideals and social institutions
  • Applications in the history of philosophy, including philosophy of nature
  • Environmental ethics
  • Philosophical questions related to AI and technology

Collaboration

Values and Wellbeing has a close institutional relationship with the Center for Philosophy of Health and Ethics, University of Southern Denmark.

In addition, the program maintains ongoing collaboration and research exchange with philosophy departments at Vrije University Amsterdam, University of Liverpool, and Freiburg University.
