Pioneering digital twins for future energy value chains

- Through multiple projects and international partnerships, EOM has delivered prototype digital twin models for hydrogen and PtX value chains. These tools support strategic and operational decisions on plant design, production planning, and energy integration – ensuring cost efficiency, reliability, and scalability in green energy systems

Enabling decarbonization of global shipping

- EOM contributes directly to the green transformation of maritime transport, addressing an industry responsible for ~2–3% of global CO₂ emissions and ~80% of world trade.

Key contributions include

• Digital and data-driven optimization of shipping operations
Condition monitoring and predictive maintenance for onboard equipment and energy efficient ship operations
Development of just-in-time port call solutions
Co-creation of technologies supporting reduced emissions and improved cargo logistics

Strong impact through large-scale collaborative projects

- The section plays a central role in major national and EU-funded initiatives (e.g., Horizon Europe), working closely with:

Shipping companies
Ports and logistics actors
Technology providers
Energy clusters

This ensures that research results are implemented in real-world operations and contribute to industry-wide innovation.

Advancing circular economy solutions in industry

- EOM contributes to circular economy innovation, including projects on:

Sustainable materials and product design (e.g., advanced blade materials)
Lifecycle and recycling solutions for industrial components

These efforts support resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact across supply chains

Building international research leadership in green hydrogen

EOM leads a strategic Denmark–Australia research partnership on green hydrogen value chains, bringing together leading universities and industry actors.

Achievements include:

Establishment of an international innovation network
Joint research, workshops, and PhD exchange
Alignment of research efforts across continents
Contribution to national and international climate targets (net zero 2050)
