SDU Kolding
A passion for design and nature
Lucie Mocková, 25, Czech Republic, product design
Denmark was an obvious choice for me because I want to work in design. Danish and Scandinavian design has a strong reputation and a long history, so I was convinced it would be a high-quality program here. The weather is very unpredictable, but that’s part of the magic. Even when it’s cloudy and foggy, it’s the best time to make your day cozy and "hygge" in the Danish style - go to your favorite coffee place, draw something nice, or watch a movie with friends.

Magical climate and people
I love nature, and Kolding is a great size with beautiful recreational areas. It’s a small town that feels big, so I’m thrilled about my decision to move here.
Many people go to the beach and cycle everywhere, and I love that I can run through beautiful parks or nature. Kolding offers a lot more peace and what I really love is that everything is so close by, the morning walks to campus or my internship are especially refreshing, a great way to start the day.
Another thing I’ve really enjoyed is getting to know Danish food and the humor culture, which has helped me connect with Danes. I’m lucky to have some Danish friends here - they’re lovely and so sarcastic!

Kolding is very community-based
Once you get to know people and what’s going on here, the town feels very lively. I’m part of different groups and associations, and that helped me a lot when I moved here a year ago to set up a bank account, find housing, etc.
I’d also recommend this to others—don’t be alone and wait for your chance. Go out and see what’s there for you. And make sure to follow Campus Kolding on Instagram. They organise events for students, which is a great way to start your studies.
Visit Campus Kolding on Instagram.
Finally i’d recommend joining the IDA organisation, not only for A-Kasse but also for the free indbo / housing insurance and student support. They are really great.
