Where to live?
SDU will assist in finding housing for all participants in the SDU Summer School. Please make sure you apply for a room in the right city where your programme is taught.
You will find the options available in each city listed below.
Application deadline: June 15th, 2021
Please note that you are not guaranteed housing if you apply before the deadline, as the number of rooms can be limited; they are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
Therefore, we recommend that you apply for housing as soon as you have applied for your Summer School program.
If you have applied for housing and you do not get accepted to the Summer School, your housing reservation will be cancelled automatically.
How to apply for housing
You apply for the Summer School housing by writing an e-mail to our Accommodation Office at email@example.com
Please write “Housing for Summer School – city (Odense or Sønderborg)" in the subject line.
You will need to state the following things:
- Full name
- Arrival date
- Departure date
- 1. priority for room (place and type)
- 2. priority for room (place and type)
- Summer School Course you have applied for
- If your preferred room offers optional linen and breakfast, please also specify whether you want to add linen and breakfast to your reservation.
You will receive a confirmation of your reservation from the Accommodation Office when they have registered your reservation. Please read this confirmation carefully and note that your reservation is not final until you have received the confirmation.

Alterations to the reservation
You can make alterations to your reservation until June 25th, 2021. After that, your reservation is binding and cannot be changed.
If you have applied for housing and you do not get accepted to the Summer School, your housing reservation will be cancelled automatically. You do not have to inform the Accommodation Office that you won't be coming.
Please note that in some cases, you must pay for your room before arrival. Payment must be made by international money transfer. In other cases, you should pay for your room upon arrival. It depends on which housing option you choose. You will find more detailed information about payment for your particular housing in the confirmation of your reservation, sent to you from the Accommodation Office.
Housing options - Odense Campus
We offer the following 2 housing options for our Summer School participants in Odense:
Dalum Agricultural College
For students taking part in SDU Summer School in Odense, furnished rooms are offered at Dalum Agricultural College at student friendly rates.
The residence hall is located 3 kilometers from campus. A short walk will take you to a small forest with a lake, providing a great opportunity for a relaxing evening run or a traditional Danish ice-cream cone by the lake.
All guests enjoy access to a shared living room with TV and a self-service laundry room. Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the building.
Please note that there are no kitchen facilities available in this dormitory.
5260 Odense S
The College offers 3 types of accommodation:
- Type A: Single room with shared bathroom: 2700,- DKK
- Type B: Single room with bathroom shared with one other guest: 3500,- DKK
- Type C: Single room and private bathroom: 3900,- DKK
The prices cover the entire summer school period (7 – 22 August, 2021). However, some of the type B and C rooms are only available until August 20th.
Linen is included in the price.
Please note that there are no kitchen facilities available in this dormitory.
Breakfast is included in the price from August 9th and is served Monday-Friday at 7:00 – 8:15, and Saturday-Sunday 9:00-11:30. If you need to prepare breakfast on August 7th and 8th, you will have access to a small kitchenette. This kitchenette is only open on August 7th and 8th.
You can buy meal tickets for dinner for 50,- DKK per meal. Dinner is served every evening 5.30-6.30 pm and consists of a small buffet with cold and warm local dishes. You buy the tickets directly at the College when you arrive.
Stay a little longer and explore the city – free of charge!
When booking either of the options (A, B or C), you are welcome to stay util August 25th at no additional costs. This does not apply to the type B and C rooms that are only available until August 20th.
Do you want to live right in the center of Odense? Then Danhostel City is the place for you.
The hostel is located right by the train station in Odense, and you are only a 20-minute bike ride from the university. If you prefer to take the bus, you can take bus number 41 or 42. The bus departs right by the hostel and will take you directly to the university.
In addition to offering furnished and affordable rooms, the hostel also has a tv-room and an activity room, where you can relax, hang out with your fellow students and study.
The hostel also has a small kitchen that you are free to use to prepare your own breakfast and dinner. But please note that the kitchen is used by all guests at the hostel, and that you might have to wait your turn when using the kitchen. You will have access to a shared refrigerator and all the needed kitchen items. You will not have access to storage space, so you will have to keep items that do not need to be refrigerated in your room.
If you prefer, you can purchase breakfast at the hostel for 50 DKK per day. Breakfast can be purchased on a day-to-day basis and cannot be pre-booked. Breakfast is served everyday between 7 am and 9:30 am. Please ask about this at the reception when you arrive.
Free wifi is provided throughout the building.
You will have access to a laundry room. The price is 35 DKK per wash and 35 DKK per dryer.Address:

Danhostel City offers 4 types of rooms:
- 1-person rooms: 300,- DKK per night
- 2-person rooms: 200,- DKK per night
- 3-person rooms: 170,- DKK per night
- 4-person rooms: 140,- DKK per night
We will try to place men and women in separate rooms, but we cannot guarantee it.
Breakfast can be added for an additional 50 ,- DKK per day. Breakfast cannot be booked in advance, but can be purchased at the hostel on a day-to-day basis. Breakfast will be served between 7 am - 9.30 am.
Linen is not included in the price, but can be added for an additional 55,- DKK. If you want to add linen, please remember to state it in your application for housing.
The rooms are available in the period August 7th - August 22nd.
It is not possible to extend the stay after August 22nd
Housing options - Sønderborg Campus
We offer the following housing option for our Summer School participants in Sønderborg:
Danhostel Sønderborg City
Danhostel Sønderborg City offers nice and affordable rooms in the city center – only a short bike ride from the university. The hostel is located in a green area and in walking distance from the pedestrian shopping area in the center of Sønderborg.
You can grill and enjoy the sun in the hostel’s yard. In the case of bad weather, you can relax in the tv-room.
There is a common kitchenette where you can prepare breakfast and dinner for yourself. Please note that the kitchen is also used by the hostel’s other guests and therefore can be quite busy.
There is a coin-operated laundry room.
The hostel offers 4-person rooms. The price per night per person is 225 DKK.
You will be sharing the room with other Summer School students.
All rooms have a private bathroom and toilet, which is only shared among the people staying in the room.
The rooms can be booked in the period August 7th – August 22nd.
We will try not to put men and women in same room, but there is no guarantee.
Linen and towels are included in the price.
Breakfast can be purchased for 75,- DKK per day. You can order breakfast one day in advance at the reception.
Check-in from 16:00 (4 pm), and check-out before 10:00 (10 am).
