Urban Resilience

This program has a possible flexible start and length.

Preferred student profile

Master students of engineering, architecture, planning, environmental, economic, and social sciences, and related fields.

We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic students offering the opportunity to join a dynamic and international team/environment, working on research and development projects with high level of collaborations with public and private organizations worldwide.

According with your interests and qualifications and our current activities, we can agree a tailor-made internship or support the preparation of your thesis, within our priority areas and project, in the field of urban resilience:

  • Climate change and health in cities;
  •  Integrated urban water management, and water sensitive cities;
  • Housing and sustainable development goals;
  • Circular economy and circular urban metabolism;
  • Multi-level governance for urban resilience;
  • Integrated coastal zone management and marine spatial planning governance;
  • Coastal Green Infrastructures for climate adaptation solution;
  • Capacity building for urban resilience;
  • Evaluation of urban resilience.
  • Tools and methods for urban resilience transition.
  • Operationalization of urban resilience.

The candidate should converse and write English at an advanced level.

Description

The group’s activities are aimed at informing policy making at international and national level, as well as at supporting science-based urban planning and design at local level, both in the global north and the global south. The urban resilience group actively contributes to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement, the New Urban Agenda and the Sendai Action Framework for Risk Reduction.

Depending on the interests and qualifications of the applicant, and on the current activities and priorities of the Urban Resilience Research Group, tailor-made research programme and activities will be agreed with the successful applicants.
