Life Cycle Engineering and sustainable circular economy

This program has a possible flexible start and length.

Preferred student profile

We are looking for motivated Ph.D or M.Sc students with interest in sustainable solutions for circular economy/bioeconomy, sustainable aviation fuel, carbon capture and utilization, Power-to-X, built environment, and waste management.

Students with degree in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, life cycle engineering, and environmental engineering are welcome to this research program.

Moreover, students with experience or wish to learn life cycle thinking, life cycle assessment, material flow analysis, sutainability assessment, and multi-criteria decision analysis can also enroll for the program.

Background and interest in one or more of the following fields:
  • Circular Economy/Bioeconomy
  • Sustainable aviation fuel
  • Sustainable waste management and biorefinery
  • Power-to-X
  • Carbon capture and utilization
  • Material flow analysis
  • System modeling and optimization
  • Built environment

Description

Creating a sustainable future requires a holistic insight and understanding of the long-term interactions of technologies and systems with the world on a global scale.

Our goal is to develop the knowledge and methods for achieving this insight. It is important to us, that the right solutions are available for decision makers, when planning the construction, maintenance, operation, recycling and end-of-life management of infrastructure, agriculture systems, and industrial processes and systems for our future.

Join the group to develop research projects that investigate and develop sustainable solutions for circular economy/bioeconomy, sustainable aviation fuel, carbon capture and utilization, Power-to-X, built environment, and waste management.

Students can work on ongoing research projects or be extension of an earlier project of promising results, or an independent project aimed at opening a new research area of high potential.
