AI for Software Engineering

Our work examines both the technical capabilities and practical implications of AI adoption: How does AI augment the development processes and influence outcomes, such as code quality and maintainability? What are the impacts and potential shifts in practices when AI becomes a collaborative partner in development? How do developers learn to effectively leverage, evaluate, and trust AI-generated artifacts?

Through empirical studies, we aim to advance our understanding of AI’s role in shaping the future of software engineering and establish best practices for responsible and effective AI integration. We investigate critical questions around the new paradigms of human-AI collaboration in software engineering.

Research Topics

  • How agentic AI can support automation of software engineering tasks.
  • The impact of AI code generation on software maintainability and technical debt.
  • Organizational adoption and change management for AI in software engineering teams.
