Current research: PhD project titled Cultures of poverty in 18th century urban Denmark. The main focus of the project is the emotions and survival strategies of the poor of the middle classes in Copenhagen, c. 1750-1850.
Primary research areas: Poverty, poor relief, private charity, philanthropy, and religious almsgiving in the 18th and 19th centuries. Social groups and social stratification in urban areas, honour and shame in the 18th century. History of emotions, history of poverty, urban history, cultural history, history of welfare, gender history, social history, history from below, microhistory.
