Pernille Stenkil Hansen

My name is Pernille Stenkil Hansen, and I am e-learning consultant at SDUUP.

I have a Master’s degree in Web Communication; before that I took a Bachelor’s degree in Information science, and I am also educated teacher.

I am particularly interested in helping teachers create the best possible blend of online and f2f-activities, to ensure that the students’ learning is supported in an optimal way through active teaching and learning. I am also curious about the development and the design of flexible and engaging formats for competence development – from self-paced courses to learning circles – to allow SDUUP to support competence development of SDU staff in the best possible way.

When I offer assistance, it is either through 1:1 sparring or through the facilitation of workshops which, among other things, focus on the design of engaging learning paths that support online collaborative learning and the use of video in teaching. My workshops often have a preparatory element – as in a flipped learning approach – which allows the participants to study various materials asynchronously. This gives us a common basis when we meet, physically or online.  The starting point of the workshop will then be work-related assignments and active learning, placed in a relevant context through exemplary hands-on exercises.  This way the participants will always take something tangible home to use in their own practice.

I also facilitate learning circles at SDU. This is an action-based course, where teachers in groups of 5 develop and test different initiatives in their teaching. Teachers have very much welcomed this format of collegial and practice-oriented competence development. Read about the learning circles at https://dkgl.dk/ or in the SDUUP newsletter. Marit Clausen, assistant professor at the Department of Language and Communication, has participated in a learning circle and experienced a big change: “I really moved when I received those inputs from SDUUP.” But Marit also continuously uses SDUUP for sparring and to find specific materials. For instance, during the Covid-19 lockdown SDUUP helped her find tools especially for her online teaching. Marit emphasises that SDUUP uses her concrete situation as a starting point to achieve what she wishes: “I have used SDUUP in many contexts and am always impressed with the help I receive. I will definitely also use them in the future.”
