Two researchers join talent programme
This year, two researchers have been selected for the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences’ Talent Track, which supports early career researchers who have the potential to make remarkable contributions to their field of research.
Recently, two researchers at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at SDU received the good news that they will be part of ‘SAMF Talent Track’.
The initiative supports a number of young researchers with extraordinary potential in pursuing visionary research ideas – research that can significantly strengthen both their careers and research at the Faculty.
The two researchers who now join the Talent Track are Associate Professor Jøren Ullits from the Department of Law and Postdoc Mikkel Nøjgaard from the Department of Business & Management.

New technologies and new legal challenges
Jøren Ullits is fascinated by new technologies and the mechanisms behind them, but as a lawyer he is also aware of the many risks that come with technological solutions.
His research is centred on automated decisions made solely by technological means and without human intervention – also known as Automated Administrative Decision-Making (AADM) – and, more specifically, how the rule of law and vital procedural safeguards are embedded in AADM systems.
Jøren Ullits is seeking to answer big questions. For example, how can we safeguard due process, adhere to the rule of law and uphold exemplary administrative practices in an age dominated by new technology and automated decision-making?

Sustainable food and market valorization
Mikkel Nøjgaard studies the phenomenon of market valorization and why we value things the way we do. Although there are often differences in how the same product is reviewed, there is a need for a broader discussion of what good product quality is – something that is often treated as a purely technical process.
In his upcoming research, Mikkel Nøjgaard will investigate valorization processes in the context of sustainable food production. In particular, he will look at the permaculture movement, which is about recirculating resources. It is important to study food movements like this one, as it challenges conventional and business-as-usual practices in agriculture, which contribute to challenges in both climate change and biodiversity.
The question Mikkel Nøjgaard wants to address is: how do we build food production systems in which food is valued not only for its effects on human well-being but also for its impact on the environment?

More about Talent Track
Following their admission to the SAMF Talent Track, Mikkel Nøjgaard and Jøren Ullits can look forward to the organisation of individual career plans, and they will receive resources for courses, buyouts, travelling and similar initiatives that can benefit their research.
In addition, they will join an intra-faculty forum at SDU BSS, where researchers can network and discuss research questions, learning and experiences with each other.
The Talent Track was launched in 2021, and this is the fourth time the Faculty has nominated researchers for the programme. A total of 17 researchers are part of the SAMF Talent Track.
