Politics and Ideology is a leading research environment in modern history at the Department of Culture and Language at the University of Southern Denmark. The group examines politics and ideology in a broad sense from approximately 1750 to the present, drawing on political history, intellectual history, and economic history. Its research encompasses areas such as state formation, political culture, nationalism, monarchy, international relations, human rights, security and military history, migration, globalisation, and the relationship between the state and the market.
The purpose of the group is to provide an academic framework for the development of new research ideas and the strengthening of research projects. A central priority is to support members’ research applications through academic exchange, feedback, and collective discussion. The group also places particular emphasis on supporting early-career researchers in their professional development and career progression.
