Soon after its independence in 1991 until the present day, Ukraine pursued an increasingly clear approach towards EU Europe. The "Orange Revolution" in 2004 and the resistance during the Russian attack and partial occupation of Ukraine (2014-2024) made clear the determined desire of the Ukrainian population to join the EU in the near future.
As a border country between the EU and non-EU, the neighboring country, Poland played a special role in this process - both as an observer and as a supporter of Ukrainian aspirations.
Katarzyna Stokłosa has observed, followed and analyzed this development from the very beginning. She has made several trips to Ukraine and has stood very firmly behind the Ukrainian desire to be a free, independent, fully recognized member country of the EU. In this volume, essays written between 2004 and 2023 are printed in revised versions. Nevertheless, the perspective of the respective time of origin is to be preserved. A current contribution at the end of the volume describes the situation of Ukraine during the war and give an outlook on possible developments.
