Per Fischer appointed adjunct professor of biomedical innovation at SDU
The Faculty of Health Sciences at SDU has appointed Per Fischer as adjunct professor of innovation at the Department of Molecular Medicine (IMM). With this appointment, the faculty strengthens its strategic focus on translational research and commercialisation of academic discoveries.
The Faculty of Health Sciences at SDU has appointed Per Fischer as adjunct professor of innovation at the Department of Molecular Medicine (IMM). With this appointment, the faculty strengthens its strategic focus on translational research and commercialisation of academic discoveries.
Per Fischer is an experienced entrepreneur and leader with more than 25 years of experience at the intersection of research, business development and biotechnology. He has helped establish and develop several biotech companies and has a proven ability to translate advanced research into concrete treatments - often in collaboration with universities and industry partners. His current role as CEO of MinervaX ApS, where he leads the development of a vaccine against group B streptococcus, has attracted over DKK 1 billion in funding.
Fischer holds an MSc in Experimental Cellular Biology from SDU and a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford. He has worked with complex protein-based therapies in areas such as immunology, cancer and infectious diseases. In addition, he has run his own consultancy company focusing on developing business cases, financing strategies and partnerships in the biotech industry.
As an adjunct professor, Per Fischer will advise researchers at IMM and SDU on how innovative research ideas can be developed into viable spinouts or commercial collaborations. He will guide funding applications, contribute to strategic partnership development and support commissioned research.
The appointment marks an important step in SDU's ambition to bring research closer to society and the market.
