Børsen and the University of Southern Denmark launch a new board education program
The new board education program combines Børsen’s insight into Danish business with teaching by experienced board professionals and the University of Southern Denmark’s leading research in digitalization, innovation, and business management in a complex world.
The demands on modern board members have intensified.
It’s no longer just about corporate governance and annual financial statements. Today, boards must also understand a complex world involving topics such as digitalization, strategic innovation, and value creation from a broader societal perspective. That’s why Børsen and the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) have developed a new board education program aimed at experienced leaders who wish to join a board or enhance their role in board work.
The program provides participants with a solid foundation in classical boardroom practices and combines this with Børsen’s in-depth insight into Danish business and the latest research from SDU. At the same time, participants are updated on current requirements and trends shaping the future of board work.
“The world companies must navigate has never been more complex. As a board, you must master traditional disciplines such as finance and supply chains while also navigating a landscape of geopolitical unrest, heightened demands from external stakeholders, and technological leaps in AI.
Together, Børsen and SDU offer a board education program that covers both theoretical knowledge and real-world application,” says Børsen’s Editor-in-Chief, Nikolaj Sommer.
Throughout the program, SDU brings its research strengths into play across the university and academic environments in areas such as robotics and digitalization, green transition, innovation, global trends, and business management.
“It’s natural for us to apply our knowledge and contribute important new insights to Danish businesses. We have a long tradition of offering education to the business community and are very pleased to now also offer a board education program in close collaboration with Børsen.
We see the partnership as a strong and natural match—Børsen ensures highly relevant knowledge, while we contribute leading and relevant research in areas such as technological innovation, geopolitics, and business management. This research is deeply rooted not only across SDU but also through close ties to companies and universities both nationally and internationally,” says Hanne Søndergaard Birkmose, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at SDU.
During the program, participants will have the opportunity to test themselves in realistic case studies based on current boardroom challenges.
The teaching is delivered by a strong team of experienced board professionals, board advisors, Børsen’s own experts, and leading researchers from SDU. This ensures that participants gain knowledge and build a solid network across experiences and industries.
Børsen has been a key player in board education for several years. Since 2020, Børsen and CBS Executive Foundation have offered Børsen’s Board Education in Copenhagen.
The new board education program is offered at SDU in Odense and is organized by the University of Southern Denmark Business School and the Faculty of Social Sciences. The program spans eight days across four modules, with the first cohort starting on March 10, 2026.
