World-class business school at SDU: Now globally accredited

Only six percent of the world’s business schools achieve AACSB accreditation – now the University of Southern Denmark Business School is among them with an internationally recognised seal of approval.

The University of Southern Denmark has just received the coveted global business school accreditation from the AACSB (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). This makes the University’s business school officially one of the few business schools in the world to have achieved this seal of approval, which means that SDU fulfils the AACSB’s requirements and standards. AACSB is the largest network for business education in the world, connecting students, lecturers and the business community.

- Congratulations to the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences and SDU Business School on the accreditation. This outstanding mark of recognition truly confirms the high academic quality and purposeful work being put into both research and education. This recognition on an international level is a strong example of how SDU delivers world-class knowledge and education that makes a difference to society through high quality, a global outlook and strong collaborations with the surrounding community, says Rector Jens Ringsmose.

Member of exclusive league

Only six per cent of the world’s business schools achieve AACSB accreditation. This accreditation helps business schools to ensure continuous improvement and to maintain focus on fulfilling their mission, generating innovation and creating value for and with society.

- I am very proud of this achievement. We now officially join an exclusive league of business schools around the world that have achieved this recognised seal of approval for their high-quality work. I am immensely proud of the collective effort that the entire Faculty has put into earning this accreditation. This is a milestone that we will build on in our endeavour to use our intellectual curiosity for the benefit of society, says Hanne Søndergaard Birkmose, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences.

Rigorous process paved the way

To earn AACSB accreditation, SDU has undergone a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process conducted by international peers. The accreditation is a guarantee that the Faculty has the necessary resources, competences and commitment to offer students a first-class, future-oriented business education.

In its feedback, AACSB emphasises SDU’s ability to combine high quality and an international outlook with strong regional anchoring. The University is praised for delivering high-level business programmes across campuses while respecting the distinctiveness of local study environments.

Stephanie M. Bryant, Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB, says:

- Today’s students are tomorrow’s business leaders, and adding the University of Southern Denmark to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting positive impact – both locally and globally.
