The annual award, presented to a researcher who has distinguished themselves through outstanding communication within their field of research, goes to SDU – specifically, Professor Anton Pottegård from the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Professor Anton Pottegård of the University of Southern Denmark has received the 2026 Research Communication Award. This has just been announced by Christina Egelund, Minister for Research, Education and Digitalisation.
The prize is awarded to a researcher with a particular talent for making academic knowledge accessible and engaging. Not only for researchers and healthcare professionals, but especially for decision-makers and members of the public who might otherwise rarely read scientific articles.

Research dissemination on Facebook and Instagram
Anton Pottegård is a pharmacoepidemiologist and clinical pharmacist at the Faculty of Health Sciences, and he is particularly successful at delivering engaging and informative research dissemination on social media.
Here, he shares his knowledge, timed to coincide with the publication of a new study or a topical social issue, as highlighted in the press release from the Ministry.
In it, the Minister also praises and acknowledges the SDU professor.
‘It takes courage and great commitment to venture into the debate on, for example, medicines and medicine consumption, where emotions can run high and misinformation can run rampant, and everyone benefits from more dialogue based on credible, research-based knowledge,’ says Christina Egelund, amongst other things.
This is the first time since 2014 that a SDU researcher has won the prize. On that occasion, it was Professor Anne-Marie Mai who received the prize and the accompanying 200,000 kr.
