Rules regulating the diploma

SDU issues PhD diplomas based on the requirements of the Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities and Certain Higher Artistic Educational Institutions.

The diploma is in Danish and English and contains information on the relevant field and the subject of the PhD thesis as well as information on the PhD programme completed.

The diploma also bears:

  • The graduate's name and civil registration number (CPR) or constructed identification number.
  • The name of the university.
  • The specific name of the research area the PhD degree is obtained within in Danish and English.

If a student leaves a programme without completing it, SDU will, on demand, issue documentation of completed parts of the programme.

As part of a formalised collaboration agreement specific to or including PhD studies, between the faculty and other universities, the PhD school may choose to contribute to or allow contribution to the issue of a PhD diploma bearing the endorsement, signature or the like of both the collaborating universities.
