The Graduate School

The Graduate School organizes the PhD programme at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Southern Denmark. It is the school’s responsibility, through supervision and courses, to ensure that the programme is maintained at the highest academic level. It is the school’s duty, across academic fields and campuses, to create the best conditions for all PhD students at the Faculty of Humanities, thereby ensuring that the PhD programme can be completed satisfactorily and on time.

All PhD students at the Faculty of Humanities are enrolled in the Graduate School and as a rule employed in one of the institutes.

The day-to-day management of The Graduate School is the responsibility of the school administration, which consists of the head of The Graduate School, the faculty secretary in charge of the PhD administration, and a course administrator and webmaster. The Graduate School works in close collaboration with the PhD Board.

The responsibilities of The Graduate School include:

  • In-service training of the supervisors who work with The Graduate School.
  • Organisation of courses, seminars, workshops, conferences to the faculty’s PhD students.
  • Providing information to the faculty’s PhD students about national and international doctoral programmes.
  • The internationalisation of the PhD programme through, e.g., collaboration agreements with international doctoral programmes.
  • Collaboration with other graduate schools at the University of Southern Denmark.
  • Self-evaluation of its own activities.
