Research Unit of Organ and Plastic Surgery (Vejle)

Research areas

The research unit conducts clinically-oriented research within the three major disease areas that the department handles in accordance with the regional hospital plan: Breast cancer, Skin and melanoma cancer, and Cancer-related gastrointestinal surgery with a focus on colorectal cancer.

The research group focuses on improving outcomes for patients with gastrointestinal diseases, with a particular emphasis on postoperative bowel dysfunction and surgical complications. Our research ranges from preclinical, clinical and epidemiological studies to medical device development and translational research, aiming to translate scientific discoveries into improved patient care.
