SDU Center for Energy Informatics Organizes EIA Summer School 2026 in Beijing

Beijing, China – October 12–13, 2026: Two days of lectures, discussions, and group work made the Energy Informatics.Academy (EIA) Summer School 2026 a great success. Organized by SDU Center for Energy Informatics and hosted at the Sino-Danish College (SDC) in Beijing, together with the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), the summer school welcomed 23 participants from 9 different countries.

The theme was Energy Informatics for Climate-Constrained Transitions: From Climate Necessity to Institutional Feasibility. The first day was a crash course in integrated assessment modelling, led by Dr. Songmin Yu from E3Modelling, on how climate and energy models are built and how their assumptions shape the pathways they produce. On the second day, Prof. Bo Nørregaard Jørgensen took participants from digital energy systems through the European regulatory landscape to digital twins and compliance-by-design, with group exercises on smart EV charging and on a smart building twin based on SDU’s own OU33 building. Overall, the summer school gave participants a broad view of the energy transition, from the models behind climate pathways to the digital systems and rules that decide how it is carried out in practice.

It was a small and engaged group, and that made a real difference. Participants worked closely together in the group exercises, and the discussions often continued over coffee and lunch. It was great to see people from so many countries and backgrounds learning from each other.

We would like to thank our colleagues at SDC and UCAS for their warm hospitality and help with the practical organization, and all participants for their enthusiasm and contributions.
