  • Artificial Intelligence from SDU
  • Computer Science from SDU
  • Computer Science from University of Copenhagen
  • Computer Science from Aalborg University
  • Computer Science from Aarhus University

Subject requirements

You can still apply for admission, even if you don’t have one of the bachelor’s degrees listed above. You must have an equivalent qualification of at least 100 ECTS in artificial intelligence and covering the following subject areas:

  • Machine learning, optimization and/or logic (at least 30 ECTS)

Language requirements

The programme is taught in English. If you do not have a bachelor’s degree from SDU, you must document English language proficiency equivalent to level B in the Danish system.

Employment requirement

In addition to the requirements for language, courses and educational background, you must also meet the employment requirement to be accepted for admission to a master's programme for working professionals.

The employment requirement means that you must be employed for an average of at least 25 hours per week in an organisation registered in the Danish CVR register or in a similar register in another country.

The organisation can be public or private, and it can also be your own company.

If you are a bachelor’s student at SDU, you can apply for admission even if you have not yet completed your bachelor's degree programme. In that case, you may be offered admission on the condition that you complete your bachelor's degree programme before study start.

If you hold relevant qualifications, but you are short of one or more specific courses, you may be able to follow supplementary courses to meet the requirements.

Ranking criteria

Student places on the programme are limited. If there are more qualified applicants than places available, applicants will be divided into two categories: fee-paying and non-fee-paying applicants. Your application will then be assessed on the basis of a test. If you have legal claim to admission to the programme, you are guaranteed admission regardless of the number of applicants.

Apply for starting credits if you have passed exam in a similar course

You can apply for starting credits to have your courses from another study programme recognised to replace courses in your new programme.

How to apply for starting credits

  • Apply for admission to the new programme through the application system and the regular admission process.
  • In the application, you must state that you are or have been enrolled in another study programme.
  • If your application for admission is accepted, you can then apply for starting credits through your programme. You will receive instructions after you have been admitted.

You cannot apply for starting credits in advance and it is not possible to receive a preliminary assessment of potential credit transfers.

State Education Grant (SU) for EU citizens

SU is a monthly grant to help Danish students with their living costs. As an EU/EEA citizen, you can apply for equal status with Danish citizens if you meet certain criteria.

Tuition fees

If you are from a country outside of the EU/EEA, you are required to pay tuition fees. You can see the tuition fee for this programme if you scroll to the top of the page

If you are an EU/EEA citizen, you do not pay tuition fees.

The tuition fee covers educational expenses related to your programme, including:

  • courses and teaching
  • academic supervision
  • exams and assessment
  • issuing of diplomas

The tuition fee does not cover living expenses, books, equipment, or exam-related tools such as computers or calculators.

You will receive the instructions for payment after you have accepted an offer of admission.

You must pay the tuition fee for the entire first year before studies begin.

When to pay?

Study start in September:

  • Invoices sent by 30 April: payment due 1 month after issuance.
  • Invoices sent from 1 May: payment due 14 days after issuance.

Study start in February:

  • Payment due 14 days after issuance.

How to pay?

Payment is accepted in DKK or EUR and you can pay by credit card or bank transfer.

Your payment may take up to 21 days to be registered. This affects the processing of your residence permit, as SDU cannot initiate the process before payment is registered. Therefore, the earlier you pay your tuition fee, the sooner SDU can begin the process. If your payment fails, your admission will be cancelled.

Detailed payment terms

The full terms and conditions for tuition fee payment, refunds and enrolment obligations apply after admission and are available for enrolled students at the student site MySDU.

You do not pay tuition fees if you hold a Danish residence permit that grants exemption, for example:

  • a permanent residence permit
  • a residence permit based on family reunification (with a permanent resident in Denmark)
  • a residence permit granted under specific Danish or EU regulations (e.g. refugees, special protection schemes, EU/EEA rules).

If you hold a temporary residence permit in Denmark, the payment of tuition fee depends on the legal basis of your permit.

You must document your residence status by uploading a copy of your residence permit or passport as part of your application.

If you are unsure whether your permit qualifies for exemption, please contact SDU Admission at tuitionfee@sdu.dk.
