Welcome to LASDU!
Labour law sits at the dynamic intersection of law, economics and social policy with human dignity.
In Denmark, labour law framework is the bedrock of our flexible labour market and our robust social model, facilitating cooperation while protecting fundamental rights.
Within the broader EU and international context, labour law is the engine for building economies that are not only competitive but also fair, sustainable and inclusive.
It is the legal discipline that directly tackles the grand challenges of our time: ensuring social justice, promoting equality, combating poverty and fostering genuine inclusion in a rapidly transforming world of work. Its academic and societal relevance has never been more critical.
It is from this conviction that Law & Arbejde at SDU (LASDU) is born!
Who are we?
LASDU is the vibrant research hub for labour law scholars at the University of Southern Denmark. We are a collective of dedicated academics committed to dissecting, understanding and shaping the future of work through rigorous legal research.
Our group brings together the expertise of:

Building the Future of Labour Law Research in Denmark
LASDU is more than a study group; it is a platform for action and collaboration.
Our agenda is built on three core pillars:
- Knowledge Exchange & Debate: We will host a regular series of seminars featuring leading national and international voices. These sessions will dissect pressing issues in domestic, supranational and international labour law, creating a dynamic forum for debate and intellectual cross-pollination.
- Interdisciplinary Research Projects: We believe the complexities of the modern workplace demand interdisciplinary solutions. We are actively developing research projects that bridge fields, collaborating with colleagues from other departments at SDU (for eg. Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Business studies and Public Health), and generate holistic and impactful insights.
- Global Network Engagement: LASDU is proudly plugged into the wider world of labour law research. We are active members of major international networks, including the Nordic Network of Labour Law Scholars (NNLLS) and the Labour Law Research Network (LLRN). Through these connections, we contribute to and learn from the global conversation, and we are always seeking new, forward-looking collaborations.
By combining deep legal analysis with a collaborative and outward-looking approach, LASDU aims to be a leading voice in shaping a labour law fit for the future.
