Entry requirements

You are qualified for admission if you hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Language and Culture (Negot) from SDU. 

If you have another degree

You can also apply if you hold another Bachelor’s degree including a minimum of 10 ECTS within each of the following subject areas:

• Marketing (e.g. Marketing, Consumer behaviour, Business to business)
• Business Economics and Management (e.g. Management, HRM, Statistics, Corporate law, Financing)
• Culture (e.g. Cultural theory, anthropology, sociology)
• Communication (e.g. Negotiation skills, intercultural communication)
• Foreign language in either English or German (e.g. Linguistics, grammar)

This means a total of 20 ECTS within the business area, and 30 ECTS wihtin the language, culture and communication area. 

If you don't fulfill all requirements, you may be admitted under the condition that you follow a maximum of 10 ECTS supplementary courses during the first year after admission.

English language requirements

The programme is taught in English. If your Bachelor’s degree is not from SDU, you are required to submit proof of your proficiency in English. See the English language requirements.

Ranking criteria

This programme has a limited number of study places. Applicants with a legal claim for admission are admitted first. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available study places, the remaining places are allocated between two sorting groups, non-fee-paying and fee-paying applicants. All applicants are assessed according to the following ranking criteria.

• 5 points for meeting the entry requirements in advance, i.e. not needing supplementary courses
• 2 points for having passed 10 ECTS in negotiation/ conflict management
• 1 point for having passed 10 ECTS in the cultural area of the language programme (German or English) or intercultural communication
• 1 point for having passed 10 ECTS in English or German language depending on the selected profile (e.g. Linguistics, grammar)
• 1 point for having passed 10 ECTS in marketing/consumer behavior

Applicants are ranked based on their scores. Available study places are offered to the applicants who achieve the highest total score. If more applicants achieve the same score, a simple average mark will be used for selection.

Occupational requirements

You can meet the requirement of relevant employment in three different ways:

• If you are an employee of a relevant public or private company with a minimum working week of 25 hours on average
• If you are self-employed in your own relevant company with a minimum working week of 25 hours on average. Your company must have a revenue and relevant activities that generate earnings.
• If you are an entrepreneur with your own relevant company with a minimum working week of 25 hours on average. Your company must either have a revenue and relevant activities that generate earnings, or be affiliated with a public or private entrepreneurial milieu.

You can also apply if you hold another Bachelor’s degree including a minimum of 15 ECTS within each of the following areas: 

• Humanities (e.g. cultural theory, communication, foreign languages, linguistics)
• Social Sciences (e.g. marketing, business economics, business management, statistics, corporate law, financing, qualitative/quantitative methodology)

Subjects such as anthropology, sociology, psychology and philosophy of science may be classified under either the humanities or the social sciences.

All applicants are assessed according to the following ranking criteria. 

1 point for having passed 10 ECTS in philosophy of science 

2 points for having passed 10 ECTS in scientific methods (e.g. qualitative and quantitative methodology, statistics, market analysis) 

2 points for having passed 10 ECTS in negotiation/ conflict management 

1 point for having passed 10 ECTS in economics 

1 point for having passed 10 ECTS in culture, intercultural communication 

1 point for having passed 10 ECTS in English or German language (e.g. Linguistics, grammar) 

1 point for having passed 10 ECTS in marketing/consumer behaviour 

1–3 points are awarded based on your grade point average in your qualifying bachelor’s degree. We calculate your average on the grading scale used by your home university. If your average falls within the top third of your home university’s grading scale, you will be awarded 3 points; an average in the middle third of the scale will earn you 2 points; and an average in the bottom third of the scale will earn you 1 point. If you have not yet completed your degree at the time of application, an average will be calculated based on the modules you have passed by the application deadline. 

The points awarded under each of the above criteria are added together to calculate a total score for each applicant.
