Sofie Pedersen is a PhD researcher at the Centre for Contemporary Middle East Studies, University of Southern Denmark. She holds a BA in Journalism from the Danish School of Media and Journalism and a MA in Middle East Studies from University of Southern Denmark. She has worked as a freelance journalist and has been a partner at the communications agency Stickelbergs Bureau (2006-2011). Sofie Pedersen has done an internship and later consultancies for the Danish House in Palestine, Ramallah, and she wrote her master thesis on young Danish-Palestinians touring historical Palestine in search of identity. In her PhD project The Welfare State and Visions of the Good Life – Subjectivity Formation among Young Muslim Students in Denmark, she explores the interaction of individual identity constructions with templates of the good life given by Islamic traditions, the context of Danish society, and global social imaginaries.
