Job description
The post of professor with special responsibilities is a five-year term of specific functions i.e. "special responsibilities", plus the joint responsibilities associated with full professorships. The special responsibilities may last three to five years with the option of a further extension of up to three years.
We aim to appoint with these positions particularly talented researchers presently at the Associate Professor Level (or equivalent) at a recognized University to internationally develop [a subject area e.g. place Electrical Engineering] within the Department's strategy for the field
The ratio between the different responsibilities may vary over time for the individual post holder, although the emphasis will be on one or more of the special responsibilities. The terms of employment may include research management.
At the end of the period, the special responsibilities may be continued once by the Dean for a period up to three years, and/or the Professor WSR may openly compete for a full professorship if the Dean decides to announce a position in the field. If not continued or promoted, the Professor WSR returns to a continuing (permanent) appointment as an associate professor.
Appointment and qualifications
The qualification requirements correspond to ordinary professorships with respect to general aspects of the job, however, emphasis will be placed on the applicant having the potential to make progress in the subject area and being able to document original scholarly production at international level corresponding to the level of a full professorship. Special emphasis is also placed on an assessment of the applicant's opportunities to assume the special functions associated with the specific job.
