The Faculty of Business and Social Sciences award four teaching awards annually which rewards the particularly innovative and including teaching at the faculty.
The four teaching awards include one main award and three special awards based on the focus areas in the faculty’s pedagogical strategy:
“Towards relevant jobs through research-based learning and professional collaboration with external stakeholders”
The four teaching awards
The Faculty of Business and Social Science's Teaching Award is awarded to a teacher/researcher or a group who has made a significant difference in teaching, who has actively integrated several elements of the faculty's pedagogical strategy in their teaching and particularly can serve as an inspiration for developing better learning processes at the faculty.
With the award an amount of DKK 30.000 follows.
The recipient of the faculty teaching award is also nominated as the faculty candidate for the University of Southern Denmark Teaching Prize to be distributed at the annual banquet.
The special award for research-based learning is awarded to a teacher/researcher or group who particularly manage to organize research-based teaching with focus on academic knowledge and skills for knowledge-production to support the development of academic competencies.
With the award an amount of DKK 20.000 follows.
The special award for interaction with the surrounding environment is awarded to a teacher/researcher or group, who offers courses where students engage in and interact with professional environments in the surrounding community. Thereby creating value to society and develop student engagement in concrete issues.
With the award an amount of DKK 20.000 follows.
The special award for IT and interaction is awarded a teacher/researcher or group who design teaching with focus on academic interaction and feedback to create value based on student diversity and support the development of personal and interpersonal competencies.

Candidate suggestions for the four teaching awards can be nominated by all faculty staff and students. Based on the recommendations the awards will be awarded by the faculty's Vice-Heads of Department for Education.
The recipient of the annual teaching award at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences will be nominated as the Faculty's candidate to receive the University of Southern Denmark's Teaching Prize at the Annual University Celebration. In both 2018 and 2019 the University Teaching Prize went to the BSS Faculty candidate.
