Dr Elli Stamatopoulou receives international award for outstanding PhD research
Dr Elli Stamatopoulou, a former PhD student at the Mads Clausen Institute, has been awarded the prestigious Gian Paolo Brivio Award for her outstanding research in the physics and chemistry of advanced materials.
A warm congratulations to Dr Elli Stamatopoulou, who has been honoured with the Gian Paolo Brivio Award. The award was presented at the annual meeting of the Instituto Lombardo in Milan. It will also be announced at the European PhD network PCAM – Physics and Chemistry of Advanced Materials's annual conference in September.
The Gian Paolo Brivio Award is given to young researchers who have distinguished themselves through exceptional PhD work. In the nomination for the award, Elli Stamatopoulou was particularly highlighted for her scientific curiosity, strong collaborative skills, and deep dedication – qualities which, according to the laudation, make her a role model for younger researchers.
"Elli is an outstanding example of what the PCAM collaboration is all about: academic excellence, international perspective, and a passion for creating together. We are proud to have been part of her journey, and this award is richly deserved," says Professor Horst-Günter Rubahn, Head of the Mads Clausen Institute and Coordinator of the PCAM network.
The Mads Clausen Institute (MCI) at SDU coordinates the PCAM network, which connects PhD students and researchers across Europe within the field of advanced materials. The network offers summer schools, seminars, and interdisciplinary collaborations. The following summer school will be held as part of the EMRS conference in Strasbourg, where Symposium T will focus on smart materials, nanoelectronics, and nanophotonics.
