SUND’s new education strategy sets the direction towards 2030
With Education in Practice – Education Strategy for SUND 2030, the Faculty of Health Sciences is taking the next step in strengthening the quality and relevance of health education programmes. The strategy focuses on close collaboration with practice, digital development, and lifelong learning.
How do we ensure that our health education programmes continue to create value for society in the future? That question is the starting point for SUND’s new education strategy, which is now ready. The strategy, titled Education in Practice, has been developed in light of major changes in both the healthcare sector and the university world, and it sets a clear ambition and direction for the faculty’s educational efforts towards 2030.
The strategy builds on SUND’s strong tradition of research-based teaching and practice-oriented learning. It emphasises that students should engage with real-world challenges during their education and be equipped to contribute actively to societal development.
– With the strategy, we are putting our ambitions into action by creating labour market-oriented, flexible, and future-proof programmes. We are strengthening our partnerships with the healthcare sector, developing learning environments, and prioritising technological understanding as a key competence, says Head of Secretariat and Education, Merete Munk.
Five focus areas set the course
The strategy is based on a shared vision that graduates from SUND contribute to improving people's health and well-being through knowledge, practice, and collaboration. With five concrete focus areas, the vision is translated into action:
- We will educate competent individuals who challenge and contribute to societal development.
- We will create outstanding educational environments where talent and professionalism can flourish.
- We will attract curious, motivated, and talented individuals.
- We will strengthen the link between education and research through research integration.
- We will support lifelong learning for people in employment.
Each focus area is accompanied by specific initiatives – from the development of part-time Master’s programmes and clinical placements to the enhancement of digital learning environments and continuing education offerings tailored to the labour market.
– The strategy is very much designed to ensure that our students meet the needs of the society around us. It is in the encounter between students and practice that new knowledge truly makes a difference, says Dean Ole Skøtt.
A shared foundation
Education in Practice is the result of close collaboration between study boards, departments, teaching staff, management, and external partners. The strategy provides a shared foundation for development, where everyone contributes to making SUND’s programmes even stronger, more relevant, and more closely connected to the real world.
