The 2026 Master’s Thesis Award: Andrea Ellinor Engemand
The Master’s Thesis Award goes to Andrea Ellinor Engemand from the Faculty of Social Sciences. She is awarded the prize for her thesis ‘Persistent but Not Permanent: Pathways for a Dollar Transition’. Her thesis supervisor, Professor Thomas Barnebeck Andersen, writes:
‘In my assessment, her thesis is exceptionally strong, well-written and demonstrates a high degree of independent scholarship. It combines a timely and policy-relevant issue with solid economic theory and historical judgement. The thesis is particularly distinguished by a highly considered and unconventional methodological approach. A major strength of the thesis is that Andrea combines historical economic analysis, reserve currency theory, network effects and strategic complementarities with analysis of different scenarios.’
